*Indian carrier secures rights from New Delhi and Mumbai. Kingfisher Airlines has been granted traffic rights for seven new international routes.

The Indian airline will be able to serve four new destinations: London, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Dubai from New Delhi; and Colombo, Bangkok and Dubai from Mumbai.

The Bangalore-based airline said start dates for the flights would be announced shortly, but said the New Delhi-London and New Delhi-Hong Kong services would be the first to launch.

Chairman and CEO Vijay Mallya said the award of the traffic rights meant the airline may accelerate its expansion plans.

“We will be able to further leverage the unparalleled domestic route network of Kingfisher Airlines,” he said. “We may even look at inducting new aircraft into our fleet sooner than planned, so that we are fully geared to capitalise on the upturn.”

Flights on the New Delhi-London and New Delhi-Hong Kong routes would use A330 aircraft, while flights on the other routes would use A320s.

Kingfisher Airlines has a fleet of 69 aircraft and flies to 72 cities in India and 7 international destinations.
