*ASL Freighter crashes in Italy

by Will Waters

A B737-400 freighter operated by ASL Airlines Hungary on behalf of DHL was involved in a landing accident in Bergamo Airport in northern Italy in the early hours of 5 August.

Aviation group ASL told Lloyd’s Loading List that bad weather was reported at the airport at the time of the accident, in which the aircraft overran the runway and stopped on a road. It said investigations were ongoing and the aircraft had been moved to a secure location at the airport.

ASL said nobody on the ground was involved and that the two pilots, who were the only people on board the aircraft, both received non-life-threatening injuries.
