Pilot's Blog

Hi everybody, my name is Ian and I am living near Amsterdam in The Netherlands. First of all I want to say that this is an awesome website for everybody who works in aviation. Pilots, mechanical engineers, controllers and many more!

My love for aviation started when I was really young, I think I was around 10 years old. Anyway I visited an airshow in Enschede; a base in the Netherlands, and there were many planes for show. I fell in love with the F-16 fighter plane and it is still my favorite.

But like many I chose to go commercial and hope that will be as good as any aviation sector. I am presently training/studying at Stella Aviation Academy (Netherlands) and will finish my study in June 2007.

Before I started at the flight academy I got my degree in mechanical enginering and I am so glad I did that. The ATPL theory was not that hard with my experience in mechanical enginering and lucky me I passed all of my exams!

In September 2006, I got my PPL and now I am in the simulator, FNPT2, for Instrument flying. After 20 hrs pic and 20 co pilot on the Sim I will fly a PA28 RT and after that a Piper Seminole Twin.

As I said I will finish in June 2007 with an MCC and a Multi-Engine IR and will probaly go to London to get my Type rating for the B737-800. Hope it alll works out.

My greatest moment in aviation was of course my first solo but I must say that when I was on Eurotrip with a classmate of mine thru France last summer, I felt like I owned the world. We rented a Cessna 172 with 170 HP from our school, planned a route thru France and went via west holland thru Belgium and France and landed at the coolest airports we could imagine.

My favourite was Lognes, east of Paris!

Well people I hope to see you all in the skies someday. Keep enjoying Aviation as much as I do and it will only grow and grow and grow.
