The milestone delivery of Boeing 777 Freighter marks the first for Turkish Airlines, which is the national flag carrier airline of Turkey.
It’s the first of the two Boeing 777 Freighters, which Turkish Airlines had ordered during this year.
"The delivery of our first Boeing 777 Freighter is the icing on the cake for our cargo business," said the chairman of the board and the executive committee of Turkish Airlines.
"As a well-known sub-brand of Turkish Airlines, Turkish Cargo has increased its freighter destinations from 55 to 73 from onset of this year. It has reached to approximately one million tonnes of cargo with 29 percent increase compared to the previous year. It’s indeed a remarkable success for us. We are also confident that this significant delivery would bring in greater value to our rapidly growing cargo operations, besides enable our leading sub-brand to compete, expand and reach new short and long-range destinations from our Istanbul hub,”.
"We are privileged to deliver the 777 Freighter to Turkish Airlines," said Marty Bentrott, senior vice president of sales, Middle East, Turkey, Russia, Central Asia and Africa, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
"The aircraft's range capability, combined with its enhanced cargo capacity, makes it a perfect aircraft for Turkish Airlines to profitably grow its global cargo service, ”said Bentrott.
The 777 Freighter is the world's longest-range twin-engine freighter, which is based on the technologically advanced 777-200LR (Longer Range) passenger airplane, and can fly 4,900 nautical miles with a full payload of 112 tonnes.
