Singapore Airlines is voted the World’s Best Airline in 2018 by travelers, with Qatar Airways taking 2nd place and ANA in 3rd position.
In a gala ceremony at the iconic Langham Hotel in London, airline leaders and top airline management from across the globe to receive their 2018 World Airline Awards. Referred to by media as the “Oscars of the aviation industry”, the World Airline Awards are held in high esteem for the clarity of process and independence, with no outside sponsorship or external influence.
“Singapore Airlines is honoured to be named World’s Best Airline in the Skytrax awards, and I dedicate it to the 26,000 SIA Group employees who focus every day on delivering the world’s best travel experience to our customers,” said SIA CEO Mr Goh Choon Phong, who accepted the award in London today. “The World Airline Awards are based on direct feedback from customers, who we know have more airlines to choose from in this highly competitive global environment. The recognition will further motivate us to improve upon the three main pillars of our brand promise – product leadership, service excellence and network connectivity – to ensure we retain our competitive advantage, and continue to meet and exceed customer expectations.”
As well as taking second place in the World’s Best Airline results, Qatar Airways collected major awards for the World’s Best Business Class, the Best Business Class Seat, the World’s Best First Class Lounge and the Best Airline in the Middle East. Japanese airline ANA was also honoured with the award for the Best Aircraft Cabin Cleanliness and the category of Best Airline Staff in Asia (which combines airport and cabin staff).

Other notable accolades include China Southern Airlines winning the World’s Most Improved Airline, continued success for Garuda Indonesia being named the World’s Best Cabin Crew, Norwegian as the Best Long Haul Low-Cost Airline, and AirAsia continued dominance being named the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline.
About the World Airline Awards
Celebrating their 18th anniversary, the World Airline Awards are independent and impartial, introduced in 1999 to provide a customer satisfaction study that was truly global. Travellers across the world vote in the largest airline passenger satisfaction survey to decide the award winners. Skytrax pay all costs of the Survey and Awards event. Airlines do not pay any survey entry or registration fee, and the awards event is free to attend. There are no charges for airline use of the award logos and results.
Over 100 customer nationalities participated in the survey with 20.36 million eligible entries counted in the results. All survey entries were screened to identify IP and user information, with duplicate, suspect or ineligible entries deleted. 335 airlines are featured in the survey results.
The online survey operated from August 2017 to May 2018, together with invitations sent to previous year respondents in the survey database (total 24.45 million customers). Customer survey forms were offered in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Japanese and Chinese. The highest nationality increase in the 2018 survey was Chinese customers with an additional 3.5 million entries.
