Norwegian is considering selling a number of its brand new Airbus A320neo aircraft before they’ve even been delivered.

Reuters reports the airline is considering selling on some of the 210 new Boeing and Airbus aircraft it is committed to through 2020. Addressing investors this week, chief financial officer Geir Karlson said the 90 A320neos Norwegian has on order “are for all practical purposes for sale”.

Karlsen, Reuters reports, said while getting the right price would be difficult, the airline hoped to be able to “disclose news on a transition” by the end of the year.

Norwegian’s fleet is expected to grow to around 165 aircraft this year.

It is the latest in a series of fast-moving developments at the low-cost carrier.

Last month, IAG confirmed it would not pursue a full acquisition of Norwegian after earlier this year buying up a 4.61% stake with a view to full takeover talks.

Norwegian has pledged to significantly increase its transatlantic programme from Ireland, and will launch in Argentina later this year, likely October.

It has also put the first of its new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft into service at Gatwick, with a view to having an operational fleet of the new Boeing aircraft of between 30 to 40 by 2022.
